Help & documentation

Set up calmly. Update safely. Ask anything.

Step-by-step setup for every device, the recovery-phrase rules that keep your wallet yours, our firmware-update procedure, and eighteen of the questions our support team answers most often.

Setup guides

Four minutes, four steps.

01

Verify the seal

Inspect the holographic sleeve for damage. The device inside should still be factory-sealed. If the seal looks tampered with, do not proceed — email [email protected].

02

Connect over USB-C

Plug the Vault into a trusted computer with the included cable. The OLED will walk you through PIN creation — choose 6 to 12 digits.

03

Write the recovery phrase

The Vault will display 24 words, one by one, on its own screen. Write them on the included steel-paper card. Never photograph, type, or upload them anywhere.

04

Pair your wallet software

Install ChinaBridge Desktop or any compatible wallet (Sparrow, Electrum, Wasabi, Rabby). Follow the pairing prompt and confirm the fingerprint shown on the Vault.

01

Charge and seal-check

Charge the Vault Pro to 50% over USB-C. Inspect the holographic seal. The touchscreen will light up on first power-on with the setup wizard.

02

Create a PIN on-screen

Tap in a 6–12 digit PIN directly on the Vault Pro. The touchscreen keypad randomizes position each entry to defend against over-the-shoulder observation.

03

Choose BIP39 or Shamir

The Vault Pro offers standard 24-word BIP39 or SLIP-39 Shamir backup (2-of-3, 3-of-5, or custom). Write each share on its own recovery card.

04

Pair USB or Bluetooth

Pair with your host over USB-C or Bluetooth 5.3. Confirm the pairing fingerprint shown on the Vault Pro matches the one on your host.

01

Unbox and seal-check

The Fortress arrives in an aluminum travel case with a steel backup plate. Inspect both holographic seals (outer sleeve and inner case) before powering on.

02

Enroll PIN + fingerprint

Create a PIN on the AMOLED touchscreen, then enroll up to three fingerprints. Fingerprint unlocks the UI — PIN is still required on first power-on.

03

Generate seed + hidden wallet

Generate your primary seed and transcribe it to the steel backup plate. Optionally set a passphrase to create a hidden wallet — memorize this passphrase; it is never stored anywhere.

04

Choose connection mode

Pair over USB-C, Bluetooth, or switch to air-gap mode for QR-only signing. You can change modes any time from the device settings menu.

Never share your recovery phrase.

Your 24-word phrase (or your Shamir shares) is your wallet. Anyone with the phrase has full access to your funds — no password, no device, no biometric required. Treat it with the care you would treat a bearer bond or the only key to a vault.

  • ChinaBridge will never ask for your phrase. Not by email, not by phone, not in chat, not in a "support" popup. If anyone asks, it is a scam. Period.
  • Never type your phrase into anything. Not a website, not a form, not a text field, not a notes app, not a cloud document.
  • Never photograph your phrase. Photos sync. Phones get lost. Backups leak. The steel-paper card in your box exists for this reason.
  • Never say it aloud on a call you did not initiate. Social-engineering attackers impersonate support staff. If in doubt, hang up and email [email protected] directly.

If you believe your phrase has been exposed, move your funds to a freshly-generated wallet on a different device as soon as you can. The old phrase cannot be "revoked" — only abandoned.

Firmware updates

Updating is safe. We designed it that way.

ChinaBridge firmware updates are signed by keys held in a hardware security module at our secure facility. Your device verifies the signature before flashing anything, and will refuse any firmware that does not match our signing key.

Updates never touch your keys. Your seed is generated and stored inside the secure element; firmware runs in a separate domain and cannot read it. In the unlikely event an update fails mid-flash, the bootloader recovers cleanly and your wallet remains intact.

  1. Launch ChinaBridge Desktop (or your chosen wallet software).
  2. When a firmware update is available, read the release notes and published hash.
  3. Connect your device and confirm the update fingerprint on the device screen.
  4. Wait for the flash to complete — usually under two minutes. Do not unplug.
  5. Device reboots into the new firmware. Your wallet, PIN, and settings are preserved.

Current firmware

Vault v2.8.3
Vault Pro v3.2.6
Fortress v4.0.2

Release notes and SHA-256 hashes are published alongside every release in the firmware repository and signed by the ChinaBridge release key.

Frequently asked

The full FAQ.

A hardware wallet is a dedicated physical device that generates and stores your cryptocurrency private keys offline, and signs transactions on-device behind a physical confirmation. The private key never exists on your computer or phone. ChinaBridge devices use certified EAL6+ secure elements — the same chip class used in passports and bank cards — to isolate key material from any software on the host.
Setup takes about four minutes. Verify the tamper-evident seal, connect the device, create a PIN, and carefully transcribe the 24-word recovery phrase on the included steel-paper card. Then pair the device with ChinaBridge Desktop or a third-party wallet of your choice. The setup wizard on each device is self-guided — see the setup tabs at the top of this page for step-by-step instructions per model.
All three ChinaBridge devices support more than 5,500 assets across Bitcoin, Ethereum, and major EVM chains (Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Base), Solana, Cosmos-SDK chains, Polkadot/Kusama, Cardano, Stellar, Tron, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, and more. The exact list evolves with firmware and with the third-party wallet you pair — ChinaBridge never recommends specific tokens as investments.
Your funds are tied to your recovery phrase, not to any specific device. Order a replacement (any ChinaBridge model or any BIP39-compatible wallet), restore from your 24-word phrase or Shamir shares, and your wallet is back — usually within five minutes. Under warranty, we replace physically damaged devices free of charge; outside warranty we offer a discounted replacement program.
Updates are cryptographically signed by ChinaBridge and verified on the device before any flash occurs. Firmware lives in a separate domain from the secure element, so updates never touch your keys. See the "Firmware updates" section above for the step-by-step, and the advisories archive on our security page for what has and hasn't shipped in past versions.
Hardware wallets purchased from unauthorized marketplaces — third-party Amazon sellers, auction sites, unknown retailers — have in industry-wide cases been pre-seeded with a known recovery phrase that the attacker controls. ChinaBridge only sells direct through chinabusinessbridge.com and a short list of named authorized partners (published in our contact page). If you cannot confirm the chain of custody, do not use the device.
Every ChinaBridge device ships inside a holographic sleeve with a unique tracking identifier. The sleeve cannot be opened and reapplied without visible damage. Beyond the physical seal, the device performs a cryptographic attestation on first connect: it proves to your host that the factory key signed this specific secure-element serial number with this specific firmware hash. If either the seal or the attestation looks wrong, do not proceed — contact support immediately.
Four rules, in order of importance. (1) ChinaBridge will never ask for your recovery phrase — if anyone does, it is a scam. (2) Always type chinabusinessbridge.com directly into your browser; do not click "ChinaBridge" in an email. (3) Verify the exact destination address and amount on the device screen before pressing confirm — never trust what your browser shows. (4) Install firmware only via ChinaBridge Desktop or the official update flow in a reputable wallet; never install firmware sent by email or chat.

Thirty days from receipt, no questions asked, provided the device is unopened with its tamper-evident seal intact. Once the seal is broken, the device is considered provisioned — we cannot resell it, and returns are handled under the warranty program rather than as standard refunds. Full terms are in our shipping & returns policy.
Vault and Vault Pro carry a 2-year limited warranty; Fortress carries a 3-year limited warranty. The warranty covers manufacturing defects, failed screens, dead buttons, and battery degradation below spec. It does not cover physical damage from drops or liquid ingress beyond the rated IP level, or user-caused failure. Full terms in our terms of sale.

No. ChinaBridge sells hardware devices only. We do not operate an exchange, issue tokens, or provide financial services of any kind. The ChinaBridge Desktop companion app is a free, open-source device management tool — it is a convenience, not a requirement, and it is never bundled into a sale.
